What are the characteristics of the Charge Air Cooler Tubes

2025-11-06

The core characteristics of the Charge Air Cooler Tubes (referred to as the intercooler tube) are efficient heat transfer, temperature and pressure resistance, corrosion resistance, and structural adaptability, designed specifically for the cooling needs of high-temperature air after engine turbocharging.

Core Features

High heat transfer efficiency: Thin wall design or fin structure is often used to increase the heat transfer area, and some pipes contain internal turbulence structures to accelerate the heat exchange between air and coolant/air, quickly reducing the temperature of the pressurized air.

Strong temperature and pressure resistance: able to withstand high temperatures of 150-250 ℃ in pressurized air and working pressures of 0.8-2.5MPa, it is not easy to deform or break after long-term use.

Corrosion and fatigue resistance: The material is mostly aluminum alloy, stainless steel or copper alloy, which can withstand the high temperature exhaust and coolant erosion in the engine compartment, and resist the vibration fatigue caused by frequent start stop.

Compact and lightweight structure: Small pipe diameter (usually several millimeters to tens of millimeters), thin wall thickness, overall light weight, suitable for small engine compartment spaces, without adding excessive vehicle load.

Low fluid resistance: The inner wall is smooth, the pipeline direction is optimized, reducing the flow resistance of the boost air and avoiding affecting the engine intake efficiency.

Excellent sealing performance: The connection process between pipes, joints, and fins is mature (such as brazing and expansion), with good sealing performance to prevent air leakage or coolant leakage.
